It was a chaotic scene on the streets of the Lower Mainland early Thursday morning.
Two people have now been arrested, but they did not give themselves up easily.
Multiple police jurisdictions tracked the two people in a vehicle from Coquitlam to Abbotsford.
Coquitlam RCMP say they initially attempted to pull over a suspicious vehicle on Silver Springs Blvd in Coquitlam, but the vehicle took off, damaging one police car.
The RCMP Air Service helicopter was called in and was quickly able to locate the video fleeing on Highway 1, exiting into Surrey. The suspect’s vehicle crashed again with another marked police car in Surrey and continued eastbound on Highway 1 into Abbotsford.
The helicopter followed the vehicle the whole way, which was stopped at 12:26 a.m. when Abbotsford Police deployed a spike belt.
The car crashed into a ditch and the two suspects took off on foot, but they didn’t get far.
They were taken into custody near the Mt. Lehman exit of Highway 1.
No police officers were injured in the incident.
Officers from RCMP Air Serves, Coquitlam and Surrey RCMP, the Integrated Road Safety Unit, the Lower Mainland Integrated Police Dog Service and the Abbotsford Police Department were all involved.
No charges against the suspect have been approved at this time.
